Knitted Scarf
While Stacy was in town at Christmas we hit a couple of the local yarn shops - Odd Ball Yarns at 21st and Woodlawn and my favorite Twist in Delano on Douglas. While at Twist we saw a delightful new yarn called Cha Cha by Trendsetter. This yarn is wool, acrylic and Polyamide and made in Italy. The yarn looks more like a ribbon with an edge along one side. To knit it you put the needles through the edge and it ruffles as you knit. You knit every row over and over so it can't get any easier. I loved working with this yarn and had such fun making a quick and easy scarf. I think I had it done in a couple of days and it is very pretty. The only negative about this yarn is the price but I had a 25% off coupon which made it much more reasonable.

Fiber Study
A few months ago I came up with the idea of having a stitch and "complain" group at work during the lunch hour. I thought about it for quite awhile before I finally got the nerve to put up a sign asking if anyone would be interested in meeting to knit or crochet together. I indicated that if a person didn't know how to do the craft someone would be there to teach them. I was amazed at the reaction of the people on the floor - everyone was very excited, then the word spread to other floors and others expressed an interest too. We had our first meeting last Wednesday in the conference room on my floor. 14 or 15 people showed up, four learned to knit and one learned to crochet. We all had a great time and have decided to meet every Wednesday. Not everyone will turn up every time of course, but this week I know of three more that are planning to come. We talked about doing a joint project where everyone makes just part of the project. Since we work for the school district I came up with the idea of calling the meeting a "Fiber Study".

Oh so cute!

I finished the sweater for Jessica's American Girl doll and think it is just adorable. First sweater I have knitted and it went so fast and was such fun to do. It is a mock cable sweater from a book that has doll clothes patterns and matching outfits for the doll's owner. I will start Jessica's sweater tomorrow. Grandma Hummer always said to not start a new project on Friday or you will never finish it so I will wait. I know the pattern so it will be easy to knit but my main concern is it fitting her. She is so skinny and so long waisted that I need to combine different sizes and that isn't easy when you don't know how. She wears about a size 8 chest and size 12 length.

Been a busy week. I went to my first retirement meeting on Tuesday. Probably the fastest two hour meeting I have ever been too. I had no idea there were so many things to think about and consider and the wrong decision can really screw up your income. I am glad I can go to more before I retire which will be in two or three years.
Very busy with work so have brought home work to do last night and tonight. Also visited with the girls tonight for a little while. They had their 18 month developmental assessment today and were worn out. They were made to wait over an hour before they got in to the appointment. Isabel's happiest moment tonight was when she saw she was being taken to bed. She grinned and grinned.
Still knitting on the beanie - seems like it takes forever but of course I didn't get to work on it much last night or tonight. I will take it to Texas with me tomorrow and knit on the way. I hope to get the socks and two beanies mailed Monday.

Sunday
I am about half way through on a beanie for a soldier and want to learn the Continental way of knitting. Everyone says it is much faster and in a knitting mailing list I found this link that is supposed be a good learning tool.
I am not sure if this link will be in my blog so I can access it or not but thought it was worth a try.
Had a quiet day - church and sewing and knitting. Watched a movie called Invincible - football movie that was very predictable but good anyway as it was a true story that I remembered happening.
Took Pizza up to Jimmy's and saw the girls for a little bit. Warm day - in the 80's and gas is now down to 2.59.
