Spring Storms

Usually when a Kansan talks of spring storms they are talking about tornadoes but this time we had a snow storm instead. It started sleeting and freezing rain with a little snow on Friday, the 27th then continued to sleet and snow all day Saturday. Around 2 am on Saturday our electricity went out. Dennis sleeps with a CPAP so when the electricity goes out in the night he wakes up quickly which wakes me up. The wonderful juice of life did not come back until after 6 pm that day. With well water the pump doesn't work when the electricity goes off so we were without water all day too which is just really annoying. I was very glad I had a number of gallons of water in the safe room for this type of situation. We also had a two burner propane stove so coffee was made which is extremely important for everyone around me staying alive. I did get a ton of crocheting done. Started an afghan last Wednesday and it will probably be done by this weekend. We all sat in the basement by the fireplace with the blind open so light would shine in and did hobbies. I crocheted, Laura did weaving and Dennis cleaned his guns. :)By Sunday afternoon most of the snow was gone but they said on the weather that we may have more snow tomorrow night. I WANT SPRING!

Sweater for Stacy

This is the sweater I knitted for Stacy's birthday. It didn't quite get done - I had to finish the second sleeve this week. Started it February 11 - made with Cascade Fixation - 98 % cotton and the rest is elastic so knitting was tricky as the yarn needed to be relaxed while knitting. She tried it on Saturday and it fit great. The pattern was from a special issue of Knitscene magazine.

Camping pictures

Here are some pictures from our camping trip. Dennis rented a boat one day to fish. I caught the same number of fish while knitting as he did on the boat.

March Madness

Spring Break is over- work tomorrow. Be good to get back to a routine I suppose but enjoyed being lazy. We took the 5th wheel to Lake Texoma and spend five days. On Thursday we met Stacy at a Starbucks in Denton and got the two grandkids and took them camping with us. Had fun even with not great weather that day. We flew a kite, fished from the bank and played games. We came home on Friday and on Saturday Stacy and James came here and we celebrated her birthday with Jimmy and his family. I would like to say her sweater was finished that I am knitting her but since she wants two sleeves instead of one, it isn't quite done. I will finish the second sleeve and post pictures soon. We had a good time, had cake and Godfather's pizza.

With Laura's help I figured out a way to put a link to my March for Babies site on the blog. If you click on it you will be taken to my section of the Wilson Team site. Hope you will contribute.
