My blog

Ever notice how I can go a long time - or anyway seems like it - without posting and then I just post and post and post. I don't think that is the way it is to be done, but I have a devil of a time getting pictures to go with the words and this is the easiest way to do it. Of course if I just put in a blog each night or every other night that would look better, but I have Twitter, Facebook, Cafe World, Cityville, knitting and not to mention Angry Birds on my telephone to deal with - I am just too darn busy to keep working.

Which brings to mind - this is May so now I can say "I RETIRE NEXT MONTH!!!!"

Our yard

We have had issues for the last year or so with our septic tank system. In December we had a company out and they gave us an estimate and plan for a solution. We thought it sounded good and wanted to proceed as soon as possible. After four months of trying to get the company back out we finally have progress. It was a lesson in frustration and our back yard is now a disaster and the job isn't finished (there is a huge hole at the back of the property) AND we haven't been given the final bill. I am very afraid of that invoice - I hope it is what he verbally quoted us! But according to the guy doing it and the county inspector we shouldn't have any more problems. Time will tell.

James Easter 2011

James was very excited to be baptized and we were very proud of him! His great-grandad was also there to give him a hug afterwards.

Jessica - Easter 2011

Jessica had fun on the boat - dancing with to the music of the band and acting like a typical silly teenager but then the next morning she was looking like an angel in the youth choir.

Easter Weekend 2011

Our Easter weekend was fast and busy. We picked up Laura in Ponca early Saturday morning and headed south for Stacy's house. Of course the afternoon started off with a soccer game - this one was inside and involved Stacy and James Sr. That evening the guys attempted to get their boat to start. Stacy, James Jr and I drove over and got pizza and brought it back to the dock and we ate the pizza in the boat while enjoying the band playing at the cafe on the pier. The lightening show got pretty fierce so we went back home and James Sr left at 10 for another soccer game.

Easter morning most of us left the house at 5:30 am to attend the sunrise service and saw Jessica sing in the youth group. It was very nice - they have benches in a semi circle to sit on and the kids did a great job of singing. One of the youth gave the sermon and did a very nice job. After this service we stopped for doughnuts and went back to the house where Dennis and James Jr were just getting up. At 9 we went back to church to the service that James Jr was baptized at. After he and another young man were baptized the closing song was started and an elderly man came up and talked to the pastor. The pastor stopped our singing and said that the man wanted to be baptized. This gentleman had tears in his eyes and so did many in the audience - it was really a special time.

After church we went back to Stacy's house and had a barbecue and celebrated with James' family before heading home. The trip home set a new record - in slowness. My goodness all of Oklahoma was under construction and everyone in Kansas apparently was on the way home from Texas. We were at a dead stop a number of times and then other times never went over 10 mph. I did get a great picture of the trailer in front of us during one construction area:
