Finished project

I finished my vest and wore it to work today. I had rave reviews from my co-workers. I really like the way it turned out except I am going to sew up the sleeves a little more as the openings are too big. The yarn is Cascade 220 I bought from Twist. I really like this yarn but haven't tried washing it yet so my opinion might change if it shrinks to fit Jessica. :)

March pictures

March for Babies

This last weekend was the March for Babies and it was just fabulous. Friday night we didn't think it was going to be very good at all - Audrey came home and threw up on her mommy then Lily started vomiting too. Izzy had a tummy ache in the middle of the night but they all woke up Saturday morning feeling great. Stacy's friend couldn't come but Jessica came instead and that was a ton of fun to have her here. They got here Friday about 6 so we took them to Savutes for supper - they had never been there of course and we thought it would be fun to take them to a place they don't have in Texas. They both really liked it.

Saturday morning we met Jimmy and family at Lawrence Dumont for the march - Maranda's mother and sister were there plus some friends. My cousin Betty and her twins, Melissa and Jennifer came also to see everyone so it was quite the crowd. Maranda did a fine job sharing their story to the group even though the feedback from the speakers were very difficult to deal with. The march was advertised on the web site as a mile but we all agreed that was wrong. Later I did a measurement on a map program and it was actually 2.8 miles. The walk ended back at Lawrence Dumont where we were fed a great lunch by Carlos O'Kellys. The little ones then played in some of the games and activities they had.

Next Dennis, Stacy, Jessica and I went to a pottery sale in the Delano district that was fun and then to Target for some shopping. We came home and rested a bit then Jimmy's family came over for a barbecue. Jessica had so much fun with the triplets - they just loved her. Audrey was calling her "my Jessica". After they went home, Stacy's friend Dorinda and her husband and 2 month old baby came for a visit. All in all it was just a great day.

Sunday Stacy and Jessica went home and with a clean house and leftovers to eat I did a lot of cross stitching and knitting.

Our group earned over $2000 for the March of Dimes and we all had a wonderful time.

Woo Hoo!

Check out my March for Babies icon - I went way over my goal. I am so excited and so thankful for everyone's support. Thank you a million!
Saturday is the march - it is always fun to participate in. This year will be even more special with Jimmy and family on the stage. Hopefully I will post pictures next week. I remember last year watching Izzy run after a bird at the baseball stadium. The bird would hop away when she got close but she would just keep going. I laughed so hard at her.
This year Laura and Stacy are going to try and come to the March and Stacy is bringing her friend, Amy with her twins. They are still babies so that will be fun to have babies around for a weekend. I know the triplets will get a big kick out of having babies around too. Not sure if Laura will make it as her job is having some staff issues and she is working extra hours. Hard to work the extra but the extra pay is always good. Been there done that!

Puzzle

I love Ann Budd - she is a knitter and author. Her books are not just knitting pattern books but books that increase your knowledge on pattern making and designing and constructing knitted objects. She also teaches classes and has one scheduled for Texas in October. Not sure where or what she is teaching but I am watching her blog for more details. It is the closest one to Kansas so hope to get to attend it.
Her blog today has such a cool item that I hope to find - I love puzzles and I love knitting and this is a puzzle of a picture of knitting. What a great combination! Her friend's friend is a professional photographer and took the picture. It is supposed to be available at Hallmark stores and just in time for Mother's Day!!! HINT HINT!! :) (just in case any of my darling, wonderful, smart children read my blog)

Girls

This picture looked good on the camera but once I downloaded it realized that Izzy is a little blurry and the light is too bright on Lily. They looked just darling in these outfits they wore to the circus. The circus wasn't the greatest but they enjoyed it.
It is always fun to take them places - most of the time we have someone say "twins?" and then we say "no, triplets" and they realize there are three. It is always funny.

Texas Bluebonnets

Every year Stacy takes the kids out to a bluebonnet field and takes their pictures. The bluebonnets grow wild in Texas and they have a favorite spot along a highway to go and always get excellent pictures. I hope she makes a collage someday of all these pictures. (and gives me a copy) :)

Grandma story

Izzy is the only one that hasn't been sick this week and has had more energy than usual. She is also a very sweet little girl that just melts a person's heart. Tonight Jimmy shared a story through instant messenger that I wanted to keep forever so thought I would put it on my blog.
From Jimmy:
Yesterday Izzy was saying she wanted to see Grandma, and we told her that Grandma was at home because she was feeling sick. So tonight we told the girls that we were going to a restaurant, and Izzy said, "No, Grandma is still feeling sick so I need to go give her medicine!"

Go Away Winter! Hello Spring

Hopefully winter is over and spring is here and maybe all the nasty virus germs will go away too. We have all been sick this last week except for Izzy and Jimmy. At least this time no one was in the hospital! Dennis missed one day of work but his started on Friday, mine started Tuesday and I missed Wednesday and Thursday this week. I can't believe how much better I feel today after being so yucky yesterday. I still have a cough and little energy, but feel like I can manage Easter weekend now! We were planning on going to my church's children's Easter party Saturday morning but I think it best the girls aren't cooped up in a room with a ton of strangers and all their germs right now so we are skipping it this year. The girls only made it to day care five days in March and we would really like April to go better. So Jimmy and Maranda are taking them to a children's play at Crown Uptown. I am sure they will have fun and next time we hope to go too but this time there is just too much to do on Saturday to try a play plus Dennis and I cough so much it would make it a bit noisy for the rest of the crowd.

I decided to make a brisket tomorrow in the crock pot and then heat it up on Sunday. Also making Becky's potatoes and Pistachio Salad. Guess a good beer bread would taste good with that too! Hope I can find the recipe I used at Stacy's house - it was easy, quick and might tasty.

Just two weeks from tomorrow is the March for Babies - I am 1/3 of my way to my goal of $300 and I haven't put my sign up sheet up in the lounge yet so I am feeling pretty good. Jimmy's family is the ambassador family this year so we hope to raise a lot of money for the walk.

My knitting is going well - I am almost done with my vest. I didn't get much done this week as I was actually too ill to knit - that really wasn't fun! Sitting here wasting all that knitting time by coughing and sneezing!
